Generate a complete Knowledge Base from a Video
This guide will show you how to automatically generate a multi-article knowledge base from a single video walkthrough of your product. With just one screen recording, you can create a comprehensive help center, saving you hours of manual writing. To get started, you will need a screen recording of your product saved as a video file on your computer.
Steps
- Navigate to the Hinto homepage and click the Get Started button in the top-right corner.
- Log in to your Hinto account. If you do not have an account, complete the sign-up process first.
- From your main dashboard, click the Create Project button.
- In the Project Name field, enter a name for your knowledge base (e.g., the name of your product).
- Click Create Project to continue.
- In the 'Select a template' pop-up, choose the Knowledge base option.
- Next, in the 'Upload screen recording' pop-up, click the Upload button.
- Select the video file from your computer that you want to use and click Upload.
- Wait while Hinto analyzes your recording. This may take a minute or more depending on the video length.
- Once the analysis is done, a 'Ready for Review' pop-up will appear. Click View.
- Review the generated knowledge base structure in the left-hand panel. Hinto has automatically created a table of contents based on your video.
- Select an article title from the list on the left to begin generating its content.
- On the right, you can confirm the video source and select a content template (e.g., Conceptual Guide, How-To Guide).
- Click the Generate button to create the article content.
- Review the generated article. You can now edit the text, add new elements, or use the top menu to Duplicate or Regenerate the content.
- Once you are happy with the article, click Save changes.

A Quick Note on Processing Time
Both analyzing the initial video and generating individual articles can take around a minute or more. For best results, keep the Hinto window open while the process completes.
